Nestled in the heart of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas, our studio has stood as a testament to enduring craftsmanship and heartfelt tribute for nearly a century. As a family-run business now in its fifth generation, we carry forward a legacy steeped in tradition, compassion, and the finest artistry.
Our journey began as a modest family endeavor, driven by a deep respect for commemorating life’s journeys. In 1929, Henry George Hardwick laid the cornerstone of H&S Memorial Studio, crafting small markers in our garage and setting the stage for a legacy of memorial craftsmanship in Hamilton, Ontario. As a skilled stone mason, Henry established our first shop on Ottawa Street, where he began producing high-quality memorials, rooted in a commitment to craftsmanship and compassion.
Following a devastating fire at the factory, Henry relocated to King Street West, where our retail Memorial Studio still stands today, owned by a member of the Hardwick family. This relocation marked the beginning of our dual role as both a wholesale and retail supplier of granite to monument dealers across Ontario.
Under Don Hardwick's leadership, the wholesale granite division was separated and relocated to Dundas, Ontario, operating under the name HGH Granite Inc. This strategic move allowed H&S Memorial Studio to focus on innovation and customer service, leading to an evolution to meet the changing needs of our clientele. Expanding our offerings to include a wider range of memorial products and services, our studio firmly established itself as a leader in the industry.
Today, H&S Memorial Studios stands as a beacon of memorial craftsmanship, known for our dedication to personalized service and quality products. Owned by the fourth generation, Greg Hardwick and his wife Lorraine, we continue to expand our offerings, adapting to meet the ever-changing needs of families seeking meaningful ways to honor their loved ones, with the fifth generation overseeing operations on the wholesale side of the business.
